Save 2UE Radio Presenter Mike Smith

 Help Mike Smith Petition

It is unimaginable to think in 2011, while countries such as Libya, Egypt, Iraq, and Afghanistan, are celebrating peace and freedom of speech, Australia is suffering from its own form of oppression, and it's called:- Julia Gillard! Our own Prime Minister has put a gagging order on parts of the Australian media that don't fall in line to the Govt's way of thinking.

2UE Talk Host Mike Smith was one many victims of Ms Gillard's rave attack on the Australian media. Apparently, if you don't agree with Julia, your out of a gig. Andrew Bolt, newspaper columnist, radio broadcaster and t.v. presenter has also fallen at the mercy of Julia Gillard. It appears this Woman will say and do just about anything to save her job.

If you are outraged that a leading Sydney radio station can be easily intimidated at the hands of our Prime Minister, then you should be. Mr Smith hasn't committed an offense under the communication or broadcasting act, or FARB (Federation of Australian Radio Broadcasting), so why has 2UE taken Mr. Smith off the air?

Spin City - Two and a Half Men

To all Charlie Sheen fans, the demise of his spot on popular t.v. sitcom;- 2 and a half men, could also be the demise of Sheen's t.v. career, in what almost certainly looks like a return to the big screen.

I am personally a great follower of Charlie Sheen and his father Martin and brother Emilio, together they have played a huge part in  providing quality entertainment both on film and t.v. Of course comes the disappointment to many fans of Charlies divorce from the Chuck Lorre hit show "two and a half men" part due to Chuck Lorre himself.

The disappointment doesn't stop there, Charlies stand in or newly replacement is none other than "b" grade actor;- Ashton Kutcher, who in my book has a lot to measure up to. Quite the contrary are the fans of "two and a half men" themselves, who are reportedly seen mobbing Ashton for photographs and signings. Undoubtedly though, this would be widely divisive  among the bulk of the show's fans.

Check out this link for the Kutcher mob out for a glimpse. You be the judge. Charlie or Ashton?

It's now been ten years since the event that changed the world forever. September 11th, is a date that's transfixed in the minds of millions of people right around the world. Like the assassination of JFK and John Lennon, the sight of commercial passenger planes crashing into the world trade center is an image that every one of us will remember for the rest of our lives.

After ten years of war on terrorism, tightened airport security, changes to anti-terrorism laws, and billions of dollars spent on military and intelligence agencies, is the threat of terrorism still real, or are we any safer than we were prior to September 11?

The truth to that question is, we are probably no safer now than what we were prior to 9/11, but we are far more prepared and alert. World intelligence agencies are working more closely and cooperatively with another, thus, giving law enforcement agencies the cutting edge in dealing with international terrorism.

The most significant change though in the last ten years, is fear. I think post 9/11, people are more fearful of an attack on their homeland or way of life than previously been ever before. When you look at how many terrorist attacks that have occurred in the last ten years around the world, there have been hundreds. Spain, London, Russia, Bali, Indonesia, India, Pakistan, to name a few.

I remember days after the 9/11 attacks, the U.S. Govt encouraged its citizens to get back to business, to carry on living. President Bush said this is the perfect way to send a clear message to the terrorists that you can't bring down our freedom nor our spirit, that is something that will always remain the property of the people of the USA.

From what we have witnessed this week, the U.S. has proved it can rebuild from a clear and present danger, but the healing is forever ongoing. You can rebuild a city, but to rebuild a society stricken from evil may take a lot more time than ten years. It may even take an average lifetime.
